The Gates Family Foundation is a private foundation based in Denver and focused on the state of Colorado.  GFF has a history of involvement in education dating back to 1944.  The Foundation’s highest education priority is closing the achievement gap for low income children in Colorado.  GFF continues to be a strong supporter of choice and the growth of high performing charter schools.  The Foundation is committed to the development of essential human capital (school leaders and the teacher pipeline), advancing best practices, accelerating the use of blended and more individualized learning models and supporting community-based programs that have a significant impact on student achievement.  GFF is also interested in education policy issues, particularly those relating to school finance and public school governance.  The Foundation also retains a continuing interest in the unique challenges facing rural schools in Colorado.
